Fun times ....

.... whilst resting/recovering 😉

Our friends popped round Friday night for a glass of wine, or two. It was nice to have company as I'm staying indoors until I am allowed to 'put my foot down', it's just not worth risking another set back.

Empty bottles - sign of a good evening
The chaps enjoyed two red wines:

Vox Populi Bobal from Majestic, a 2012 bottle that Hubby decanted and Las Moras Malbec, a bottle our friends brought.

As we both like Sauvignon Blanc wine my friend and I enjoyed Oyster Bay from New Zealand and by contrast Calvet Touraine from France. Both great wines, a good nose on the Oyster Bay, a softer finish on the Calvet.

Saturday was a day I have been waiting for, and being sofa bound was just perfect. It was the final day of the Guinness 6 Nations. I'm a great fan of rugby and have for the last few years supported Wales as our daughter lives in Cardiff and works in the rugby world.

It's been fantastic to see the boys on a winning streak. I have a sheep hat from one of our visits to the Principality Stadium which I have cuddled every game - I'm sure that was the magic touch.

The all important hat
And so Saturday saw me and the sheep ready with a glass of  Guinness cheering the boys from our sofa in the centre of England. The biggest task was to remember not to jump up .... and there were so many jump up moments.

Go boys go
Huge congratulations to all the Welsh team and Warren Gatland, especially to Gareth Ainscombe (MotM) whose steady boot scored every time. I watched the coverage and photos of Cardiff with a touch of envy as the city would certainly have been partying all night .... and probably still is today.

Hubby and I had put a bottle of bubbles in the fridge ready (never a doubt) - not French, not English, not Italian - Graham Beck a bubbly from South Africa.

Today is St Patrick's Day, as with any saint or celebration day it's an opportunity to do something different. This morning I have wheeled myself round the kitchen and made an Irish Coffee Cake with boozy icing.

St Patrick's Day celebrations
Thursday brings the excitement of seeing under my bandages and hopefully being allowed to stand on two feet. Unfortunately my operation has been too close to Saturday so we will not be able to visit Love Wine at Guildford.

We had a fantastic time last year - Love Wine Guildford 2018. Hopefully we'll be able to catch up with Les Dauphins, Joie de Vin, Georgian Wine Club and other great wine producers at another event soon. I'm sure it will be a great day enjoyed by all.

Life has many surprises for us but there is always fun to be made - time to cut my cake I think 😉

Update!

Just a quick post to say I have now had all the metalwork removed from my left ankle which will hopefully mean after two years I will be able to walk without a jarring pain each step.

Life is back to being in a chair as my ankle is non-weight bearing for two weeks - it's great fun whizzing round the house again, at least I know how to do stuff this time. My ankle is not so painful as nothing is broken, however it is sore and a touch uncomfortable, still two weeks is not long and hopefully then I'll be walking on it.

My wheely friend is back
As I cannot go upstairs we are back in the 'garden bedroom' - it#s quite nice waking up to see the birds feeding.
Sunny morning from our garden bedroom
With having an anesthetic, painkillers and other medication I have not been drinking alcohol for a while so I have no reviews to post, hopefully this will change soon and my blog posting will return to normal.
