Guinness and travelling north

It's been a quieter week this week dealing with official things. We did have a super night at our friends celebrating pie week, steak and mushroom pie is always a winner.

There's nothing better than a flop on the sofa with a good glass of red when life is a bit up in the air. Sainbury's Taste the Difference Maremma Toscana was spot on for that moment. It was one of the wines from the Cecchi Challenge that we didn't open on our Italian night, it was also one of Helen McGinn's choicesmon Saturday Kitchen a few weeks back.

A rounded red wine wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese with plenty of cherries, raspberry and plum flavours. Its oak finishing results in soft tannins and a lasting depth of finish.

This week's white was another from France that needed enjoying before it was past it's best. A Pouilly Fumé 2018 that was delicious with our fish and chip supper.

I love rugby and, as my friends will say, am quite loud when watching a game, especially if Wales or Ospreys are playing. Our daughter introduced us to Matchpint, a prediction app linked to Guinness ... in all honesty I don't understand it all however Hubby and I both won a free pint of Guinness so we must have done something right.

We've travelled north for a week away, a change of scene is needed and I promised Hubby a trip to Edinburgh as part of his 60th birthday gift. We have a lovely apartment overlooking the Forth Bridges.

I'm looking forward to discovering more Scotland's capital city especially our tour at Johnnie Walker.
