Bodnant Gardens

Whilst in North Wales Hubby and I visited Bodnant Gardens, a National Trust property. The property has over 80 acres to explore from wooded walks, hidden dells, an abundance of shrubs and beautifully laid gardens. 

It took 150 years of work by the McLaren family with plants and trees brought from all over the British Isles as well as from many places across the world. My photos give a glimpse into this amazing world of nature. 

We were so surprised when taking a rest (we walked over 3 miles in total) to see a family of Canadian Geese walking towards, and the past, us. With a family of six we were amazed at how close they came; the chicks were so cute and very photogenic. We sat very still until they had wandered past, had their fill of grubs in the grass and settled under their Mum's wing for a sleep. 

Just before our rest we had seen a heron, we're not sure if it was drying its wings or if it was injured but it stood very still and wasn't in distress. It turned its head round keeping an eye on our movements. 

Our final close up with nature was a robin, there is always one around us when we go out and about. It is said that they are a passed loved one popping by to say hello, I feel it's my Dad. 

This robin was very friendly, it had been near us a few times then sat on the tree right by Hubby. He then hopped around my feet before hopping onto Hubby's shoe for a second before flying away. 

Our final wander took us through a beautiful dell, under a long arbour, past the summer house, and across the lawn of the big house which is privately owned.

We have been members of National Trust for quite a few years and really enjoy visiting the many properties around the United Kingdom. It was a lovely day exploring Bodnant Gardens, so nice being out in the spring air amongst beautiful flowers and trees.
